Social Intelligence - HR Tech Demo
Review
During the HR Technology Conference and Expo in Las Vegas, I had a chance to walk the exhibit floor to get some product demonstrations. Here is what I learned about Social Intelligence:
It seems every week there is a new example of someone getting fired for inappropriate use of Facebook, Twitter or some other social media tool. It has sparked a debate as to whether employers should even look at a candidate's information or content found in social media sites. So the idea of a social media background check sounds sort of controversial.
But it seems that Social Intelligence has found a legally compliant way to access and use that information without crossing the line. In fact they have dedicated people working as analysts to validate the information, making sure it's for the same person, and exclude any inappropriate content before providing a report. They also have the full set of communications to the company and the candidate regarding disputes and resolution.
In my opinion any other background screening company is going to need to figure out how to incorporate this type of screen into their offerings.
